Let's LOVE Being Natural

This past Saturday I went to my stylist Giselle for a trim.  We started talking about how the rise of some negativity in the natural hair movement has saddened us.  Some of this is from women who are glad they went natural, but are not satisfied with their "grade" of hair and cannot see the beauty in their hair and themselves.  Others are criticizing women of mixed ethnic heritage or whose hair is a looser curl pattern, saying that those women's natural hair experiences don't really count because they don't really have "kinky" or "nappy" hair. Reed Between The Lines

I am loving BET's Reed Between The Lines .  The first couple of episodes showed potential, then the next few delivered!  I especially loved the "Let's Talk About Hair" episode where the older daughter considers getting a relaxer to please a boy - of course we love this episode - and I really loved the episode where the son cheats in school and takes forever to admit it to his parents despite the fact that he had plenty of opportunity to own up.  Also a fav for me is the episode where the son is running for freshman class president and his sister enters the race to encourage him to do his best.  This show really is following the legacy of the Cosby Show, as Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Tracee Ellis Ross intended.  I'll be watching - you should too!
